For the love of Handel
Every year, the Handel Festival celebrates the masterful work of the musician and composer.
The first Handel festivals in Halle took place as early as the 19th century. In 1922 Handel's operas were rediscovered at "Halle Handel Festivals", and since 1952 the Handel Festival has been held regularly once a year - in honour of Handel, who was born in Halle and spent his formative first decades here, and in honour of his great music.
Water music canceled
The two popular excursions of the MS Händel on the Saale to the sounds of Händel's Water Music unfortunately have to be canceled, as the repair of the lock south of Halle could not be completed in time and the ships are therefore unable to call at Halle.
Instead, the Alphorn Ensemble from Weimar will play their alphorns, French horns and gemshorns in the courtyard garden of the New Residence. These concerts will take place on May 28 and June 4 at 7:30 pm with free admission.
